DHARAMSHALA : His Holiness the Dalai Lama sent a message to the 100 ª meeting of the Tibet Intergroup meeting at the European Parliament east 19 February. The meeting was attended by more than 200 personas, including members of the European Parliament (MEP ) and his staff.
In your message, His Holiness the Dalai Lama said: "A pesar de ya no tener ninguna responsabilidad política, I am a Tibetan who cannot stop worrying about the well-being of my compatriots. The Tibet issue is not just about the political rights of Tibetans, but also about the problems that affect humanity in general. First of all, because it has been shown that what happens on the Tibetan plateau affects climate change, because the main rivers that originate in Tibet supply their water to more than one billion people throughout Asia, Therefore, the environment of Tibet is of crucial importance for the region.. In second place, because Tibetan Buddhist culture focuses on peace, nonviolence and compassion, which is a value for the world worth preserving."
"La situación en el Tíbet en la actualidad es sombría. Tibetan culture remains under threat. Meanwhile, Chinese authorities are relentless in suppressing any sign of protest or dissent. Y, however, It seems that the greater the repression, stronger is the spirit of Tibetan resistance. The only lasting solution will be when the Chinese Government addresses the aspirations of the Tibetan people so that they can be resolved through equitable negotiations.. For our part, The elected Tibetan leadership has reiterated its commitment to the Middle Way, not to seek separation, sino una autonomía genuina para el pueblo tibetano", His Holiness said in his message that was read by Mr.. Thomas Mann, President of the Tibet Intergroup in the European Parliament.
"En los últimos tiempos, The Chinese Communist Party has begun to focus on the needs of the rural population and the poor. In part, this implies the need to raise the functioning of the judicial system to international standards.. People who know President Xi Jinping tell me that he operates in a more open and realistic manner.. In fact, he appears to be taking some bold steps to reduce corruption. I hope he is able to carry out political reform, de la misma forma en que Deng Xiaoping llevó a cabo las reformas de mercado que han hecho de China económicamente poderosa".
"Si China cambia en una dirección positiva, we can hope for greater transparency in its direction. This in turn will lead to trust and respect. This evolution will allow China to earn the respect of the international community, while solving problems such as the Tibetan question, for the benefit of all involved. Espero que organismos como el Parlamento Europeo puedan encontrar formas de alentar a China en esta dirección ", His Holiness said in his message."
