Our purpose
One of the objectives of the Casa del Tibet Foundation is to provide help to Tibetans in exile.. Through different interventions, we provide basic help in education, health, infrastructure, such as well construction, of schools, of nursing homes, of hospitals, etc. Fundamental projects to achieve a minimum quality of life in a community in great need. FCT: Project to help 250 elderly nuns and monks of India
The Department of Religion and Culture (DORC) of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA, acronym of the Tibetan Government in Exile of Dharamsala, India), requests our collaboration to help 250 elderly monks and nuns of India.
Project summary
250 ELDERLY NUNS AND MONKS NEED OUR HELP
These monks and nuns live in isolation in Dharamsala and other Tibetan settlements in India and dedicate themselves to their daily Buddhist practices.. All of them are older than 60 years, They have no family and live in retirement. They are former monks and nuns who fled Tibet in hopes of continuing their Buddhist studies in a free country.. With this program, the DORC and the Casa del Tibet Foundation intend to help these elderly monks and nuns through a donation of 200 rupees (3 euros approximately) per monk and month with the aim of improving these conditions.
Aid management
The Casa del Tíbet Foundation has assumed the commitment to send 4.500 euros every six months to help cover the basic needs of these monks and nuns (see document document April donation 2019). For this reason, it organizes events to raise funds and collect donations from all those people who can and want to collaborate with this project.. Any donation is always very welcome. These aids will be sent to Dharamsala to the DORC, where the aid coordinator and the treasurer contact all beneficiaries, who mostly live in Dharamshala, and they will gather them at the Main Temple of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to deliver the aid. Every six months, The coordinator will deliver the aid to each beneficiary who will sign the receipt of it in order to carry out a detailed control of the donations and their recipients..

NEW SOLIDARITY PROJECT: Help the nuns of Chuchik Jall Nunnery of Ladakh (India)
Chuchik Jall Khachod Dubling Nunnery of Zanskar was founded by H. E. Kachen Lobzang Zotpa in the year 1976 near Karsha, a village in the Ladakh region, north of India. During the 11th century, el gran Lotsawa Ringchen Zangpo, founder of the Alchi monastery, traveled through the Zanskar region. The small Chuchik Jall temple was built on the rocky slope overlooking the valley north of Padum and taken over by one of the Karsha families.. The temple contains images typical of Indian tradition and the Kashmir region, also present in the monastery of Alchi. In the same century, Karsha Monastery was founded in front of the temple and grew to become the largest of the Gelup tradition in the Zanstar region..
Kachen Lobzang Zotpa, one of the greatest Buddhist teachers of Ladakh, visited Karsha in the 1970s 1970. The townspeople asked him to make a Nungnye retreat, which he gave in the Chuchik Jall temple. In addition to the population, some nuns also attended. At that time they lived in their respective homes without time to focus on their studies.. Once the withdrawal is completed, Kachen Lobzang Zotpa suggested that they meet in a convent to develop their full potential and study as a group.. Every year, since then, nuns host Nungnye retreat for local community.
He also encouraged them to build a small temple below the local Chuchik Jally temple., in 1976, gave a teaching on Vajrayogini (Kha-choeMa), which served to give the convent the name of Kha Choe Drupling Nunnery. At that moment 16 nuns formed the community. Themselves, little by little, They built their rooms and a kitchen. Year 2004, They added an extra room that allowed them to start a small school, where they have been welcoming girls who study with them.
The basic expenses of the convent are covered by performing prayers for the lay community in Zanskar, and with the few donations from visitors. Given the remote location of Zanskar, the number of tourists is very limited. In summer, The nuns depend on food grown in the Zanskar Valley offered by local villagers. In winter, to the difficulty of obtaining food, Added to this is the high price of the most basic foods..
The convent is built on the steepest side of the valley, near Karsha, where living conditions are very complicated. In winter, when temperatures drop to -20 degrees, one of the biggest difficulties is the provision of water. There is no heating in the convent, which is especially hard for older nuns.
To be able to continue their studies and education and to benefit girls in this isolated region, they urgently need your support. Although we could not reach the objective to finance the operation in India, We are pleased to inform you that Cardio Dreams Foundation contacted us during the fundraising campaign to inform us that, through his foundation Dr.. Xavier Ruyra and his team would perform the intervention and take care of the hospital costs of the Quirón-Teknon clinic in Barcelona, which is where the intervention was carried out.
As we mentioned, the intervention to replace the aortic valve and the mitral valve was performed successfully and Tsering Bhuti is happy and is recovering normally..
We inform that the amount raised through the Fundació Casa del Tibet and Mi Grano de Arena, which amounts to 3.075 euros, will go towards expenses incurred by Tsering Bhuti (see detail) to apply for your exit permit from India, the visa, his trip to Barcelona and his stay and care during convalescence, since after such an important intervention you will have to remain under surveillance for a while before taking the flight back to India. Fundraising for patients with chronic rheumatic heart disease

Whom it may concern,
I write in relation to my patient Tsering Bhuti, of 38 years old mother of a son 16 years of school age, who was diagnosed with chronic rheumatic heart disease ago 10 years with severe mitral regurgitation, estenosis mitral leve, moderate aortic regurgitation, mild pulmonary arterial hypertension and TR (tricuspid regurgitation) mild with normal left ventricular ejection systolic function.
The patient was initially visited at the Delek Hospital in the year 2006 with severe respiratory distress, palpitations, joint and chest pain. In subsequent examinations, it was suspected that the patient might suffer from some cardiac pathology and she was referred to Escorts Heart Institute. & Research Centre en New Delhi (india) to carry out a cardiological consultation. There the cardiologists diagnosed him with rheumatic heart disease.. He was also prescribed injections of 1.2MU penicillin every 3 weeks as prophylaxis together with Amifru (combination of Furosemide 20mg and Amiluride 2.5mg OD) and was advised to continue taking the medication until the time of surgery..
During these years the patient has disciplinedly continued with the medication and also with the follow-up visits.. During the last consultation with Dr.. Pumeet K. Verma, cardiologist at ACE Heart and Vascular Institute, Chandigarh, It was recommended that he undergo the operation. ElDr. Pumeet strictly advised to carry out this operation due to the deterioration of the functional status of his heart valves based on echocardiography.. He said that, if this operation is not carried out as soon as possible, there would be a further deterioration of the condition of your heart with possible consequences for other heart valves. The cardiologist told him that this operation, absolutely necessary, would cost around 300.000 rupees.

Projects under construction
New equipment for dental clinic
The Tibetan Primary Care Health Center in Delhi was established in 1963 by the Department of Health, from CTA, Dharamsala. The health center provides primary health services to all residents, but we are facing a problem in the dental department facilities since two years. The problem in the settlement continues to increase due to poor awareness among people regarding oral hygiene and non-availability of care services.. Especially the Tibetan people, who has few resources, is the one who suffers the most from dental treatments, which are usually very expensive. Dental problems may be better treated with regular care. So that the health center can provide quality dental care to people, It is essential that there be a stable health team.
Brief background of the situation
This Tibetan Primary Care Health Center in Delhi was established in New Aruna Nagar in the year of 1963. This agreement benefits at least 3.000 personas. In addition to the resident Tibetan people, This center becomes a transit place for all Tibetans who go to India, be it for their jobs, education, pilgrims and other purposes.
Specific project objectives
1. Provide affordable dental care service to all Tibetan settlers.
2. Improve care capacity through modernization of dental facilities and equipment.
3. Improve the quality of the provision of dental health services through a dental clinic fully equipped with the necessary equipment.
4. Make dental treatment more accessible to Tibetans in the settlements.
5. Improve the overall public health of Samyeling settlement.
The sustainability of the results (impact)
The sustainability of the project is assured since the project belongs to the Department of Health, CTA, DE Dharamsala, and to the Samyeling settlement. This project will benefit practically everyone in this settlement.

Construction of new toilets and changing rooms in front of the community hall at Tashiling Tibetan Camp, Darjeeling
The Tashiling Tibetan Camp in Darjeling District, India, welcomes Tibetan refugees, both children and elderly people.
In order to condition the community room and to avoid risks for older people, It is urgent to build toilets and changing rooms
The works began last February 2015. Today it is being built 1 common clothing and 2 toilets for older women. Construction is still pending 1 washbasin for men and a closed space for washing dishes. Below are attached photos of the status of the works

Annual project
Choepheling Miao Tibetan Camp, in Arunachal Pradesh, India, settled in Changlang in 1962. He then moved to Miao in December 1976 because Changlang was not suitable for agriculture. At first the population was approximately 1700 people and now it has grown to 3000. There was a sudden increase in the number of vulnerable elderly people in the camp and there was no one to take care of their illnesses and other domestic problems. Although the Camp Office provided some assistance, It was not enough.
Most of them were single or without children over the age of 65 year old. They fled from Tibet to India in 1959 following His Holiness the Dalai Lama, leaving their families behind. They desperately needed support and special care during their old age.. Thus, The nursing home was built in the year 2000 with the invaluable support of the Tibet Relief Foundation, from United Kingdom, through the Department of the Interior (Central Tibetan Administration), en Dharamsala. The residence has 20 beds distributed in 10 bedrooms, a kitchen, a dining room and a shared prayer room. They currently live there 18 seniors, 10 men and 8 women.
Annual budget for Miao nursing home
The nursing home has clean and healthy accommodation. There is a cook (Sr. Nima Dorjee), an assistant for the elderly (Sra. Sangye), who takes care of the sick, of medical treatments and also cleaning the house. Another person (Sr. Pema Rinchen) is responsible for ensuring their general well-being. Hay 18 elderly people today and the approximate necessary budget for the maintenance of the residence with its workers is 1.236,800.00 rupees (17.668,57euros, calculated with a change of 1 euro – 70 rupees).
The Miao nursing home has an insufficient budget to maintain the current conditions of care for its residents.. Therefore, we request your invaluable support so that they continue living in a healthy environment., nice and quiet.
