Dalai Lama
Dalai is a Mongolian term that means “ocean” and Lama is the Tibetan name given to “spiritual teacher”. Both translate as “Ocean of Wisdom“.
For the Tibetans, Dalai Lama is a title that designates the figure most important in the Tibetan Buddhist world. His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, He is the temporary Head of State and spiritual leader of the Tibetan people. He was born 6 July 1935, to a small village called Taktser, located in the northeast of Tibet.

His Holiness has three main commitments in life:

- As a religious practitioner, The second commitment of His Holiness is with the promoting religious harmony and understanding among major religious traditions. Despite the philosophical differences, The world's major religions have the same potential to create good human beings.. Therefore, It is important that all religious traditions respect each other and recognize their respective values. Regarding the truth referred to each religion, It is relevant only at the individual level. Nevertheless, As for the great truths, different religions are necessary.
- His Holiness is a Tibetan and has the title of 'Dalai Lama'. Tibetans place their trust in him. Therefore, His third commitment is to the Tibetan question. His Holiness has the responsibility of act as a free spokesperson for Tibetans in their fight for justice. This third commitment will cease to exist when a mutually beneficial solution for the Tibetans and the Chinese is achieved.. However, His Holiness will keep the first two commitments until his last breath.
