María Teresa Pous Mas held hours of conversations with the venerable Lama Thubten Wangchen, founder of the House of Tibet in Barcelona. The book is the result of those talks.

María Teresa has done a spectacular job, first to convince Lama Wangchen to be the protagonist of a book about his life and then to be able to dedicate all the hours with so much love to the production of the book. Getting the time to talk with the Lama must not have been easy., record and transcribe all hours of recording, edit the texts so that reading becomes as easy as possible, adapting the texts to the “first person” narrative, So it sounds more convincing., and then translate the work into Catalan so that it could be presented in both languages on the same day… What was said, a great job. We were able to be at the presentation in which we were told that the book would be read in two afternoons. I think I have to disagree with that statement.. It is true that the book is narrated as a great adventure of a man in search of his life plan., since fleeing his homeland in Tibet, until he manages to found the House of Tibet in Barcelona, but between the lines, He tells us in a very informal and easily understandable way., the basic principles of Buddhist philosophy, which should be underlined and reread to understand them, assimilate them and put them into practice.

I love that part of the book, almost at the end,  in which he tells us some words from the Dalai Lama: You are a Buddhist monk and you will be in Catalonia, where the majority are Catholic. You will be invited and those are the children of that land. You don't have to want to convert anyone to Buddhism. Everyone has their religion, "Your time to learn and experiment in your life.". I find it so enriching. It can be summed up in one word.: I respect.

In the book they tell us, in a very entertaining way, forgiveness experiences, of compassion, of love for every living being and how Lama Wangchen feels and fights to make the true history of Tibet known so that its culture is not lost. It also tells us about the current state of negotiations between the Tibetan government in exile and the Chinese government to reach an understanding on the solution of a conflict that has already lasted. 60 years.

We're not going to gut it, We invite you to enjoy and grow with reading Far from Tibet.
