Tibetan flags in all their formats, with the sun, symbol of freedom and happiness, and the circular form of balance between body and mind.

Always with your attitude of service, love and compassion for others. He launches another of his open and contagious laughter, that resonates on the walls and runs playing down the stairs.

Tashi Delek Wangchen

My name is Thubten Wangchen., I am a member of the Tibetan Parliament in exile, I have 64 years, solo. He took 35 in Barcelona directing the Casa del Tíbet Foundation, working, promoting, welcoming people and sharing the value of meditation, philosophy, yoga, peace and happiness.

You represent Tibet here in Spain

Yeah, Of course, I am Tibetan and I have to work for my people. Tell the truth about everything that is happening. The situation in Tibet is still quite serious and everyone is silent, la HIM… They do not speak because there are economic interests with the Chinese government. They automatically remain silent. Tibet is not mentioned in the press and other media, your problems. You can't tell the truth. It's a little sad, but what are we going to do, everything is a business. There is something more important than the China business: freedom, respect for human rights, that's the most important thing.

So…

We do not abandon our fight, we keep trying, always with our weapon of non-violence, truth and peace. In a peaceful way, without blood and without violence, with dialogue. The Chinese government is the one who has our solution.

A time of crisis

There is an economic crisis worldwide, but also spiritual and human values. In the 21st century we have more things, more technology, but internally people are more nervous, with more worries, more sadness, increases your desire, they have and increasingly want more. They get a million and they want two. Living like this you are never satisfied and you suffer constantly. Not only the poor suffer, the rich too. They are afraid of Treasury control, to thefts, to lose your assets…

¿And the path of religion, of spirituality?

There are categories of human beings, ¿You know? Spiritual and religious people, the religious ones that are sometimes spiritual, non-religious spiritual, the religious and not at all spiritual, and those who are neither spiritual nor religious, without much difference with animals, who don't believe in anything, humans without connection with the highest and spiritual values.

“OUR WEAPON IS NON-VIOLENCE, TRUTH AND PEACE”

But today we have a lot of information

Bueno, if you use technology well, ¡how beautiful! Hoy, with Facebook, Twitter, everything happens in a second. The world seems smaller, but the size remains the same. Technology makes the world smaller. We have more things. It is our duty to use them correctly so that everything goes better. Otherwise we become slaves to money and material things., we do not enjoy an authentic life.

¿What values are important?

Being religious or not is a personal decision. First of all, we are human, so we must open our hearts and minds to respect all religions, cultures, breeds, languages… So, each one can follow their beliefs while respecting the other. If the heart is not open, it's dangerous, you can become a fanatic of your religion, of your nation. It is important to open your mind and heart, thinking from peace and happiness, not only towards yourself but towards all beings. In this sense, We are brothers and we all seek happiness. Nobody wants problems and pain. So that there is more happiness, take care of yourself, healthy body and healthy mind.

So, you have to start with yourself

you are important. For world peace, the family… oneself must change, be kinder, nicer. This way there will be fewer arguments at home. If you think you are the owner of your family, you don't listen to your partner, there is a problem there. Be humble and listen. If you yourself have no peace, world peace becomes a dream. Yeah, you have to start with yourself, Don't be selfish and think about others, ¡but it starts with you!

“BE HUMBLE AND LISTEN”

¿You like the sea?

We Tibetans, and I particularly, we didn't enjoy much in the water. We are more mountain. Not everyone is the same…

The middle of water

Yeah, water is life. the sea, depth, has no limit, wherever you look there is sea. If one knows how to meditate, if you know how to apply it, In the sea you can find many things, wake up, overcome fears. Because he trusts in swimming…

¿The fears are real?

They may be a mental projection, that in your past lives something unpleasant happened and it scared you, an accident in the water, a plane falling… that's why there is an innate fear. to have it, you must have seen something, an accident, a disgrace… We all have karma, a connection with other lives.

and it is overcome…

nothing is easy, nothing is impossible. In time, trying this and that, you see that everything comes down to fear, to ignorance. Not knowing generates fear. Many people don't try out of fear., and that's just an excuse. start doing something, and you will learn… How to drive, the first months you will be afraid, but with practice you will gain confidence and end up speaking, listening to music. You get familiar, you know.

A good exercise is yoga

Yeah, healthy body and healthy mind. Take care of your body by moving and feeding it well. Eat what you should eat, don't eat what you shouldn't eat. Control a little. A healthy body is a happier mind, happier, more at peace. Sometimes, the body is very good, but the mind is very confused, angry, aggressive, so the body does not enjoy. The body never enjoys, who enjoys is the mind.

“THE WHO ENJOYS IS THE MIND”

Taking care of the mind is essential

Yeah, mindless, the body is a corpse, doesn't feel anything. The body is a base, the mind is you. And you must take care of yourself, be a good person, have a good heart, less mental deceptions, less jealousy and envy. So, although the body is not so pretty, outwardly, physically you will be able to smile, greet, be happy. Some people are physically very well, but inside they don't know, they are selfish, they are angry, closed, They don't greet anyone or smile, they are not happy or enjoy life. So both are important., body and mind, although the main thing is the mind. evil mind, all bad. happy mind, happy body. Enjoy, be optimistic, good person, kind-hearted and practices compassion towards others. And if you can't help, don't hurt anyone, religion doesn't matter, Islam, Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism… the same.

Tell me about the nine levels of mental calm

The monkey begins the nine stages. It's a black monkey, a young monkey, like our mind that doesn't stop constantly jumping from one side to another: I'm here and I'm thinking about other things. The elephant is our illusion, mental deceptions, ignorance, as heavy as the elephant. The fire, wisdom, attention, the alert. The monkey little by little is transforming, increasingly whiter, like the human mind becoming whiter. Until you reach the end with full attention, mindfulness.

That takes time and patience.

Little by little, in the end comes mental calm. If mental delusions control you, you get angry with a noise, you are a slave to anger. When you get to control them, you calm down and they calm down. you must calm down, Don't let mental distortions control you.. That is the symbol. From there, you have all the space, you are free from all confusion, nothing conditions you, you no longer act from what should and should not be done. You free yourself from your karmas and your illusions. Whoever seeks mental calm must work on that black elephant, ignorance.

 ¿and humility?

Many have degrees, they say they know a lot, this and that. has diplomas, but there is also the philosophy, science, the culture… They think they are smart and wise, but there is still a lot to learn. Learning has no limit, until we reach Buddha…

A mantra to control the mind

Breathe and, if you have faith in Buddhism, the compassion mantra Om mani padme hum to calm your mind, win peace; or Tara's liberation mantra Om tare tuttore ture soha, to cut and mitigate fears, remove obstacles and fears.

We reach freedom

All, even animals, we have the right to live well. Animals are not there to be tortured and eaten.. An animal lives a life to enjoy, like birds with two wings to fly. Humans are good, but we are destroying Mother Earth, nature. There is more pollution, more torture and destruction of the Earth. It is humans who create wars, the holy war, the Civil War, the first, World War II… Animals don't do it. We are good, but also dangerous…

So, ¿we are the higher intelligence?

we have it, but we don't use it, we do not apply it. Human beings act selfishly and ignorantly.. The idea-action: think wrong and do wrong. All this harms, from family to planet. like earthquakes, the floods, los tsunamis… Nature is not very happy with humans.
