ATHANOR MAGAZINE: Monks and young people sacrifice themselves in Tibet

Thubten Wangchen, director of the House of Tibet in Barcelona, plans a hunger strike in solidarity with the Tibetan people.

“¡Rose Delek! We are in the middle of October (year 2011) and in Tibet monks and young people continue to demonstrate their rejection of the repression of the Chinese government through immolations. Unfortunately, They continue to attack their lives to defend their people, its culture, their religion and, above all, their Human Rights.

The international community and the UN, however, callan; They turn a deaf ear to these desperate actions so as not to have a bad relationship with the powerful Chinese market. The silence of political leaders is shameful and it is a shame that ethics are not valued., education, the freedom and human rights of peoples living under repression. Nor do the media echo what is happening there.. It seems that they are not interested either and look the other way.

“For all this I have decided to go on a hunger strike 48 hours symbolizing the non-violence and patience of my people against torture and lack of freedom in Tibet.”
“If we get permission from the authorities, I plan to carry out the hunger strike in the Catalonia square (Barcelona) starting the 31 October at 11 a.m. and ending on 2 November at 11am, coinciding with the commemoration of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day. It's the least I can do, living in a free country, to express my solidarity to the 6 millions of Tibetan brothers living in Tibet.
If any of you want to participate, you must contact through info@casadeltibetbcn.org o 93 207 59 66 so that we can organize the action in the best way.”
“During these 48 hours we will report on the current situation in Tibet and We will collect signatures asking for the freedom of political prisoners, including the Panchen Lama. We also count on your support and help to spread this event as widely as possible so that it reaches as many people as possible.”
"On the other hand, the days 3 and 4 In November the G20 meeting will be held in Cannes, which will feature the participation of the president of China, Hu Jintao. The Tibetan communities and Tibet support groups from all over Europe are organizing to make a peaceful demonstration at the doors of the Festival Palace, where the meeting will be held.”
“I will be at the demonstration, without fail. Then, during the weekend, Representatives of Tibetans in exile and international Tibet support groups will hold meetings in Nice to talk about the situation in Tibet and plan future actions.”
