REUTERS: China warns Glastonbury organizers over invitation to Dalai Lama

Beijing (Reuters) – China warned Glastonbury Festival organizers on Friday that inviting the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama to one of Europe's biggest music festivals was tantamount to giving him a platform to engage in anti-China activities..

The Dalai Lama's office said Thursday that the Dalai Lama would speak at the Glastonbury Festival during his trip to the United Kingdom next week., in which he does not plan to meet with authorities.

The Dalai Lama will visit the UK again in September just before Chinese President Xi Jinping's trip to the country in October. Xi's official visit is the first by a Chinese head of state in a decade.
