Read original here: Noctilucent clouds over Tibet
29 June, 2012. The privileged places from which our planet observes the NASA, allow the United States Space Agency to capture amazing images of the most beautiful weather phenomena that take place on Earth.
Photography of polar mesospheric clouds (the highest in the Earth's atmosphere) What is under these lines was taken by the International Space Station as it passed through the Tibet plateau. Its luminescence is due to the fact that, being formed by ice water, reflect the sun's rays.
This rare phenomenon, also known as noctilucent clouds or night lights, common on summer nights, takes place in the mesosphere (at an altitude of between 75 and 85 kilometers) and is only visible at the end of twilight.
