Beijing, 28 oct (EFE).- China today warned India against the Dalai Lama's planned visit to the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh, disputed for half a century between New Delhi and Beijing, by warning that this trip could affect bilateral relations.
The Dalai Lama's visit to that state is scheduled for March next year and responds to an invitation from his chief minister., Pema Khandu.
Beijing also reacted negatively to the recent visit to Arunachal Pradesh by the US ambassador to India., Richard Verman, which was interpreted by Chinese authorities as disrespectful to Sino-Indian efforts to achieve peace and reconciliation.
Sovereignty over the region of Arunachal Pradesh, in the Himalayan area and in the extreme northeast of India, It has been claimed by both countries since practically the creation of the Indian state, and was the trigger for a brief war between the two Asian powers in 1962.
China and India try to reduce tensions over this conflict through regular rounds of negotiations, although mutual accusations of military incursions in the border area are frequent.
While India controls Arunachal Pradesh, claimed by China, The communist regime de facto administers another area disputed by both, Aksai Chin, on the western border of the two countries and part of the historic region of Kashmir. EFE
