Beijing. (EFE).- A nun sets herself on fire while shouting for the Dalai Lama's return to Tibet, who is exiled in Dharamsala (India) from 1959, and freedom for the region, as stated this Saturday by pro-Tibetan organizations in exile. Yeshi Khando, of 47 years and resident of Ngangang County (Sichuan, western China and bordering Tibet), se acercó a un monasterio llamado Kardze en esa región el miércoles y se prendió fuego mientras gritaba proclamas como "el Tíbet necesita libertad", says the Free Tibet organization (Free Tibet), con sede en Londres.La religiosa también pidió que "regrese su santidad al Tíbet" when I was engulfed in fire, points out the group, in reference to the Dalai Lama, which has been in India for decades. The group International Campaign for Tibet, based in Washington, also reported about the incident, and both indicated that the police and security personnel extinguished the flames and took away Yeshi Khando, so it is considered that he survived. With the act of Yeshi, International Campaign for Tibet points out that 113 men and 24 women have immolated themselves or have attempted to immolate themselves (surviving the flames) since March 2011, although most died. China assures that Tibet has been an inseparable part of its territory for centuries., while Tibetans argue that the region was virtually independent until it was occupied by communist troops in 1951 and denounce repression by Beijing.
