Tibetan monk Thubten Wangchen, Spanish nationalized and complainant in the case of Tibet, considers that the decision of the National Court to file the complaint against former Chinese presidents Jiang Zemi and Hu Jintao, as alleged responsible for the genocide perpetrated by the Government communist in Tibet during the years 80 and 90, represents “a triumph” to China.
The judges of the Plenary Session of the Criminal Chamber of the National Court decided last Tuesday, by nine votes to seven, the dismissal of the Tibet case. In your vote, the majority of magistrates understood that Spain has no jurisdiction to prosecute these crimes, in application of the universal justice reform promoted by the PP and approved in Congress.
In statements to Servimedia, Wangchen thanked seven judges for their vote against and stated that the Plenary's decision “is a shame.”, but “we will continue working for truth and justice” from an attitude of “non-violence”. The Tibetan monk also stressed that they will look for “other means” and they will never give up.
Regarding the message from the Chinese authorities in which they thank Spain for the archive of the Tibet cause, Wangchen said China is “very happy” and now “it will continue buying Spanish debt” and will sign agreements with Spanish companies.
For the Tibetans, This decision represents “the triumph” of China after months of pressure on Rajoy's Executive to modify universal jurisdiction.
Wangchen assured that now it will be “difficult” reopen the cause of Tibet in other countries after the Chinese Government shows its power, although he noted that “we are working to delve into other avenues”.
