Madrid, 13 may (EFE).- El Pleno del Senado debatirá esta tarde una moción firmada por todos los grupos parlamentarios a excepción del PP en la que se pedirá al Gobierno que derogue la ley de justicia universal tras "la alarma social" that have generated the latest decisions adopted by the National Court.
PSOE, CiU, understood, Basque Group and the Mixed Group support the parliamentary initiative that urges the Executive to promote the legislative process aimed at repealing the current universal justice law, that came into force last 15 March.
La oposición advierte de la "alarma social que han generado las decisiones judiciales adoptadas las últimas semanas por la sala de lo penal de la Audiencia Nacional, no sin controversias internas en el seno del tribunal", in reference to the release of foreign drug traffickers.
To date, 36 drug traffickers have had to be released after the reform for not being Spanish, having been arrested in international waters on ships flying the flag of another country and because the crime of drug trafficking was not going to be committed in Spain.
In addition, The groups point out that the transitional provision that allows the retroactive dismissal of cases opened in the Spanish courts, "dista mucho de respetar el principio de separación de poderes consagrado en cualquier Estado democrático".
Nevertheless, international treaties, such as the Geneva Conventions or the Convention against Torture, prevent, in the opinion of judges of the National Court, the filing of the universal justice cases that they are investigating and that according to the new law should have been closed with its entry into force on 15 March.
