InterContinental Hotel on Madrid's Paseo de la Castellana
China has ordered the InterContinental hotel chain to report the presence of Tibetan guests within a period of 10 minutes from arrival. This law only affects Tibetans living in their own country.
InterContinental plans to open a large luxury hotel in Lhasa this year. With this reason, The British NGO Free Tibet has carried out an action at the hotel that the chain has near London's Hyde Park. In the video, an "inspector” (actually an activist) He walks around the hotel asking about Tibetans, and at a given moment they find one of them; his companion does not believe the discrimination.
When staff ask who you are and what you are doing, tells them that they must locate the Tibetans and call the police immediately, then making known the reason for his action. At the end of the video, The activist explains to the camera that the only thing they wanted with this action in London was to make both the hotel staff and their clients know what InterContinental intends to do in Lhasa.
Free Tibet has tried to ask the chain if it will collaborate with the Chinese authorities, but they did not want to answer.
