The exiled Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, has urged China to investigate the high number of immolations among the Tibetan people, that this month there are already around a dozen and the Japanese parliamentarians to visit Tibet.

At the beginning of the month, Most UN members called on China to address frustrations that have led to desperate Tibetan protests., which include around 60 immolations since March 2011.
China maintains that Tibet is part of the country and that the countries that host the Dalai Lama are interfering in Chinese internal affairs. The Dalai Lama has also invited China to follow the example of its late former leader, Deng Xiaoping, whose reforms brought the market economy to the country. The Dalai Lama's statements come at a time when tensions between China and Japan are increasing due to territorial disputes over the Senkaku/Diaoyu islands.
