In the town of Bodh Gaya

NEW DELHI, 7 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

At least two monks have been injured in a chain of nine bombs that exploded this Sunday at the Mahabodhi Buddhist temple., in the town of Bodh Gaya, state of bihar, in northeast India, as reported by the authorities, who consider that it is a terrorist attack perpetrated by Islamists.

The bombs were underpowered, so they have not caused damage to the building, Built in the 7th century and included in the list of World Heritage Sites of the United Nations Educational Organization, Science and Culture (UNESCO).

"Es un atentado terrorista", said the Indian Home Minister, RPN Singh, after reporting the chain of attacks, perpetrated between 5.30 and the 5.58 hours this Sunday (2.30 and 2.58 Spanish peninsular time), according to the Indian press.

Sources from the Ministry of the Interior have acknowledged that they had information about a possible Islamist attack in Bihar and that the state authorities had already been alerted last month.. Specifically, the Intelligence Office (IB for its acronym in English) had detected two brothers born in Bihar but living abroad who were planning terrorist attacks.

The town of Bodh Gaya in particular was one of the targets of Pakistan-based terrorists trying to avenge the attacks suffered by Rohingya Muslims in Burma., a Buddhist majority country. The Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya is one of the holiest places in Buddhism, since in it is the Bodhi tree, under which Buddha is believed to have achieved enlightenment.
