Èxit absolut de la Conferència "El Tibet avui" amb Thubten Wangchen

El fundador de la Casa del Tibet a Barcelona i membre del Parlament Tibetà a l'exili, Thubten Wangchen, denounced last Thursday in Cerdanyola the silence of the international community, l'HIM, politicians and the media about the violation of human rights that the Tibetan people are suffering.

Thubten Wangchen succeeded in arousing a lot of interest among the citizens of Cerdanyol yesterday with an exhibition hall of the Ateneo full to overflowing in an event organized by the local section of ERC.

Wangchen was accompanied by the promoters of the event, Angel Solà, expert on the subject; the photographer and documentary director Jordi Carot, author of the film Blowin' in the Mountains; and the president of the Suport Tibet association in Vilafranca del Penedès, Albert Carrasco.

As Wangchen explained, everyone knows the situation in Tibet but no one explains it or does anything because behind it is great China, powerful China and its market.

L’any 1959 Tibetans lost their independence and freedom, according to the Buddhist monk,  and since then there has been destruction and repression that continues to this day. Thubten Wangchen asserts that the Chinese government is telling many lies to the world when in reality Tibetans are subjected to repression and control. And he uses the ban as an example, until now, of the image of the Dalai Lama or the flag of Tibet.

Segons Wangchen, Tibet is a large country with a lot of wealth; it is full of gold mines, bronze, etc… and very important rivers pass through the territory. Now the Chinese are exploiting everything and polluting.

Hand extended to the dialogue

The founder of the House of Tibet explains that the Dalai Lama and many Tibetans in exile have asked the Chinese government to be able to dialogue and negotiate but without success and there are increasing tensions and concerns. Wangchen explains that officially they are no longer asking for independence but they are, instead, autonomy as a first step. Thubten Wangchen assures that in Tibet there is suffering but patience remains, encouragement and hope that the situation will change because nothing lasts forever.

The Tibetan monk expressed yesterday his wish that hopefully the day will come when Tibetans and those in exile can reunite and share the territory living in peace and respecting mother earth. hopefully, afegeix Wangchen, one day the Dalai Lama can return to Tibet.

Thubten Wangchen defines the Tibetan people as a humane and peaceful people; a people who follow and believe that the world needs more harmony, respect and tolerance between different cultures, traditions, religions and different spiritual paths. In this 21st century what must be claimed is, according to the monk, tolerate, respect and try to live with everyone in harmony.

Thubten Wangchen was presented yesterday at the Ateneo by Àngel Solà and Jordi Carot, helping to contextualize the current situation in Tibet and the importance of making it known. From his side, the president of the Suport Tibet association, Albert Carrasco, he spoke of the need to support the cause stating that it is a country invaded by a great power, making it a titanic struggle, with a thousand culture·lenary that they try to destroy.

The event ended with questions from the audience and a tea tasting.
