Neither the PSOE nor the PP join the Senate group in defense of the self-determination of Tibet, who will captain ERC

ERC has taken the helm of a Senate group in defense of the self-determination of the Tibet, to which neither the PSOE nor the PP have joined. The alliance will be formally established this Wednesday under the presidency of a Republican parliamentarian and will include around thirty senators from different political parties.. The group will be dedicated to building real support for the resumption of substantive dialogue between Chinese leaders and representatives of the Dalai Lama — with the goal of ensuring a “genuine and meaningful autonomy” for the Tibetan people. And they consider that Tibet is an independent country invaded by China, which continues to be threatened by Beijing and needs international support.

The ERC senator Robert Still Nahar will be the president of the alliance, of which more than a third of the members are part of the independence party. There will also be senators from Junts, of the PNV, the EH Bildu, of the Canarian Coalition, from Más Madrid, of Later Yes, of the Regionalist Party of Cantabria and Ciudadanos, as Europa Press progressed this Monday. Instead, No one has joined, neither from the PSOE nor from the PP.. The representative of the Dalai Lama and the Central Tibetan Administration will attend the constitution ceremony, Rigzin Genkhang; the president of the Tibetan community in the Spanish state, Rinzing Dolma; and two members of the Tibetan parliament in exile representing Europe, Thubten Wangchen and Thupten Gyatso. She further , a message from the Sikyong or head of the Tibetan government in exile will be projected, Penpa Tsering.

ERC and Tibet: goals

The promoters of the group assure that their main objectives are “promote and defend the fundamental rights of the Tibetan people, especially in order to improve respect for human rights in Tibet”, as well as get “the recognition of the Central Tibetan Administration based in Dharamsala as the sole and legitimate representative of the Tibetan people“. They also intend “work together with other interparliamentary groups for Tibet in European countries and the Tibet Interest Group in the European Parliament; and support the call to appoint an EU Special Representative for Tibetan Affairs within the EU with the intention of promoting a substantive dialogue between the Dalai Lama's envoys and China”.

For your part, Robert Masih Nahar is a Catalan politician who was born in India and has been a senator since 2017. Works on issues related to immigration and integration, forming part of the Citizenship and Migration sector of the party. He has organized cultural and sporting events together with the Indian embassy and has extensive experience in management and administration of sporting and cultural entities.. So, He is a promoter and founder of the Indian Cultural Center in Barcelona..
