Empty original: Dalai Lama encourages Japanese parliamentarians to visit Tibet
The Dalai Lama urged Japanese parliamentarians this Tuesday, among them the probable next prime minister, Shinzo Abe, to visit Tibet to understand the current wave of immolations by fire.
"Pido a los grupos parlamentarios que visiten Tíbet", incluyendo zonas donde los tibetanos se han dado la muerte "tan tristemente" immolating, declared the spiritual guide of 77 years at a meeting organized in the Japanese Parliament.
"Puede que las autoridades (chinas) and the leaders have a real image" of said immolations if foreign parliamentarians tell what happens, added the Dalai Lama in the presence of Shinzo Abe, new head of the Liberal Democrat Party (PLD, opposition), who could become prime minister again after the next legislative elections.
"Prometo seguir apoyando a Tíbet y hacer lo posible para cambiar la situación de la gente oprimida allí", declared Abe., with a reputation as a hawk and a nationalist, before the Dala Lama spoke.
Two Tibetans burned themselves to death on Monday, indicated the official New China agency, and there are nine suicides in a period of five days.
The two dramas occurred in Tongren, northwest region of China's Qinghai province. Tibetan suicides have accelerated since the inauguration, last thursday, of the 18thº Chinese Communist Party Congress, who runs the country.
