Beijing, EFE – More than a hundred human rights lawyers have been questioned, placed under house arrest or detained since last Thursday in an unprecedented campaign of repression in China, The organization Chinese Human Rights Defenders reports today (CAD).
According to updated data from CHRD, Hong Kong-based organization, five lawyers from the Fengrui law firm, in addition to an employee of this firm, have been arrested.
Another lawyer is under house arrest, a 15 se los ha "llevado la Policía" for unknown reasons and 85 more have been questioned and released, since last Thursday in multiple provinces and regions of the country.
China's Ministry of Public Security confirmed, In a statement, that the director of the firm, Zhou Shifeng; su asistente Liu Sixin, and lawyers Wang Quangzhang, Huang Liqun, Wang Yu and her husband, Bao Longjun, estaban arrestados por "violar seriamente la ley", without specifying exactly the charges against each of them.
Wu fue arrestado hace una semana acusado de "incitar a la subversión" y "provocar problemas", and his case was being handled by Wang Yu.
Eve linked what happened to the approval, ten days ago, of the National Security law, that further shields the leadership of the Communist Party in China and that several NGOs had warned that it could further restrict the freedoms of Chinese society.
From China, Human Rights Lawyers Concern Group (CHRLCG) also highlighted the case of renowned lawyer Sui Muiqing, quien defendió el año pasado a varios de los activistas del movimiento "Nuevo Ciudadano", a civil group that tried to fight corruption by asking leaders to publish their assets and most of whose members ended up in jail.
According to a spokesperson for CHRLCG, Efe, Sui ha sido acusado de "incitar a la subversión del Estado" this weekend, and now he is under house arrest.
