El Gobierno chino aseguró hoy que "tomará medidas" after the visit last week of the Dalai Lama, whom Beijing accuses of being behind separatist movements in Tibet, to the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

Tomaremos las medidas que consideremos de acuerdo a nuestro propio juicio", a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed today, Lu Kang, In a press conference in Beijing.

The spokesman added, who avoided clarifying what type of measures China intends to adopt.

The Dalai Lama, who lives in exile in Dharamsala (India) since China occupied Tibet in the 1970s 1950, received a standing ovation last 15 September by members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament (PE) after a debate in which the Buddhist leader defended democracy, unity and mutual respect.

There he met with the president of the European Parliament, the German socialist Martin Schulz.
