The Human Rights Watch organization (HRW) has urged the Chinese authorities not to hold military parades and other events that intimidate Tibetans for the celebration of the anniversary of the failed military uprising of the 10 March 1959.
"El progreso de los Derechos Humanos solo se producirá si el Gobierno chino reemplaza sus tácticas de intimidación por un enfoque más abierto a la información, expresión y la disidencia pacífica", He added.
According to HRW, the military parade held last 3 March, in which they participated 5.000 troops and 1.000 vehicles, was intended to deter protests and expressions of dissent.
She further , the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) has prohibited the entry of foreigners for most of February and all of March. HRW has said Chinese authorities should use the anniversary to encourage rather than prevent foreigners from traveling to the region and address human rights issues..
"Las autoridades chinas han vuelto a prohibir que los tibetanos viajen, celebrando desfiles militares para dejar a la población tibetana en silencio", said the director of HRW in China, Sophie Richardson.
HRW has repeatedly denounced the serious violation of the Human Rights of Tibetans by China. Since the eviction of at least 2.000 monks and nuns of Larung Gar, once the largest Buddhist community in the world, to the almost total denial of passports and permits to travel abroad to residents of the TAR, going through numerous cases of arbitrary arrests, convictions and prison sentences of Tibetans for alleged political crimes.
