The full Congress has approved the reform of Universal Justice proposed by the PP with the en bloc rejection of the entire parliamentary opposition. The PP has imposed an unusual procedure in Congress and the Senate, fast and non-negotiable that will allow cases like that of the genocide in Tibet that causes friction with the Chinese government.
The Government's intention is that the 21 March the law can come into force that ends universal justice and that in the following days the Prosecutor's Office of the National Court request the file of a dozen summaries.
The bill that restricts the conditions under which a Spanish judge can investigate crimes committed outside the national territory, has been criticized by judges and prosecutors of the National Court for various reasons: in principle because ends the prestige and international reference that our country had acquired in the protection of human rights and in the prosecution of crimes of genocide and crimes against humanity.
The new law also opens spaces of impunity that make difficult the investigation of serious crimes against transnational organized crime such as drug trafficking and leaves victims of crimes such as white slavery or genital mutilation without protection. Third, The application of the new law could clash with compliance with the international agreements signed by Spain.
