Interview at R5 – Tibet protests cloud the 18th Congress of the Chinese Communist Party
China is celebrating the 18th Congress of the Communist Party these days and the event is being tarnished, in a way, due to the protests that intensify in Tibet. Since Congress opened last Thursday, at least eight Tibetan monks have burned themselves to death to demonstrate to the whole world the oppression of the regime in that territory occupied since 1950 and also to ask for the return of their spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, who has lived in exile since then. Thubten WangChen, director of the House of Tibet, tells us about the situation (12/11/12).
