“If two people, a couple, they feel that this way it is more practical, that satisfies them more, both people totally agree, then it's okay", said during an online interview with the famous American journalist Larry King.
But "the persecution, violence, it's not right. It is a violation of human rights.", said the Nobel Peace Prize winner and head of the Tibetans in exile, currently visiting the United States.
Same-sex marriage is becoming increasingly accepted in the Western world., but no predominantly Buddhist country accepts it and it is a debated issue in countries like Nepal, Taiwan or Vietnam.
The Dalai Lama met with representatives of the US Congress in Washington on Thursday, after it was received 21 February at the White House by President Barack Obama, which caused the irritation of China.
