Milarepa is one of Tibet's best known and most admired saints and poets. Because during his youth he had committed some crimes, he felt great remorse for all the misfortunes he had caused and gave himself completely to the eremitic way following the Buddha's teachings. He practiced meditation for many years and, finally, he attained spiritual awakening. As he had a very good voice and a great gift for improvising songs he often used singing to express and communicate his wisdom and spiritual experiences. Even today, many of these songs are part of the oral and written tradition of Tibet.
“Whenever I read The Life of Milarepa, the great yogi of Tibet, I pray and experience a deep trust”. Tenzin Giamtso, catorzè Dalai Lama.
