Taiwan: an island with its own voice

The repeated Chinese military maneuvers around the island of Taiwan make clear Beijing's ambition to force militarily not a reunification but an absorption. There are those who see only a scenario of geopolitical confrontation between the USA and China, without considering the voice of the Taiwanese. We will see the historical and social perspectives of a conflict.

Manel Ollé (Barcelona, 1962) He is a professor of Chinese Studies at the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) and literature at the Bloom School. He has focused his research in the areas of East Asia. He has published four books of poetry and an anthology of Catalan short stories.. Write essays and literary criticism in different media. He has translated Honoré de Balzac, Gao Xingjian, Pu Songling, Shi Tao, Laozi, BeiDao and classical Chinese poetry. He has also published essays and articles on Chinese history.
