SOLIDARITY DINNER NEW YEAR'S EVE 2025

FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE NGARI INSTITUTE OF BUDDHIST DIALECTICS OF SABOO (LADAKH)

The Ngari Institute of Buddhist Dialectics is a non-governmental organization located in the Himalayan Kingdom of Ladakh, in a small town called Saboo. The campus spreads over 20 hectares of desert land, which over time will become an oasis of learning.

Ladakh has been deeply influenced by Tibetan Buddhism for centuries. The simple and harmonious lifestyles of its inhabitants show how deeply the rich Buddhist principles of love and compassion are part of all Ladakhis..

The main objective of the Institute is to empower and enrich monks and lay people, especially the young, providing a balanced learning experience that combines modern scientific knowledge with ancient Buddhist wisdom, thus helping them become efficient and productive citizens.

Under the leadership of its current President, Geshe Tsewang Dorje, an eminent Buddhist scholar and practitioner, The Institute has seen rapid growth in enrollment of underprivileged children from the surrounding region of Ladakh. Currently, The Institute offers education, free food and accommodation 58 children, with the promise to continue educating them until they graduate from the high school level. The children mainly come from the following backgrounds:
• Orphans,
• Children of single parents,
• Children from poor families with many children,
• Children whose parents have little or no income.

In addition to providing education and accommodation to underprivileged children of Ladakh, The Institute also sponsors Buddhist philosophy programs for university students visiting Ladakh during summer vacations. Thinking about the future, the Institute plans to offer higher studies in Buddhist philosophy to monks and lay practitioners, both local and foreign.

Come celebrate the last night of the year and welcome 2026 with us in this solidarity event. at the end of dinner, our director, Thubten Wangchen, will lead the first ceremony 2026.
